During summer 2022 I attended a leatherwork for beginners short course at Nottingham Trent university. The short course was taught by Enda Kenny who is an award winning costume designer based in Belfast and has extensive experience in designing, making, dyeing, costume prop and millinery.
The one week course covered skills like making, following patterns, riveting, bevelling, forming, dyeing, ageing, stitching and using supplies such as latex, gum trag and resolene. These skills were learnt through the process of making a leather belt, leather satchel and a leather chestplate.
